Rubens slams 'arrogant' Villeneuve.

Ferrari number two Rubens Barrichello has hit out at 1997 F1 world champion, Jacques Villeneuve, saying it is his 'arrogance' that probably cost him his drive at BAR-Honda.

Speaking to news agency Reuters, the Brazilian explained that JV's tactics last year, when he said, amongst other things, that he didn't respect team-mate, Jenson Button probably didn't help his cause, especially as the Englishman often overshadowed him throughout the 2003 season.

"I think he's paying a little now for all he has said," commented Barrichello, "People noted that at the start [of last season] he said that he didn't have respect for [Jenson] Button.

"Maybe he is paying a bit for the arrogance."

Rubens though was quick to avoid any potential war of words with the outspoken Canadian, adding: "He is a good driver and hopefully he will find a place in a new car."

Takuma Sato has replaced Villeneuve at the Brackley based squad this year.

JV had been at the team since leaving Williams at the end of 1998, when 'British American Racing' was originally formed around him by friend and mentor, Craig Pollock.
