Ferrari completes two-day Imola test.

Having rounded out its trip to Barcelona's Circuit de Catalunya on Wednesday, Ferrari completed the second and final day of an overlapping test at Imola yesterday.

Michael Schumacher was charged with the lone F2004 at the San Marino GP venue, and completed 86 laps over the course of the two days, as he continued to put the new car through its paces ahead of the coming season. Development work in several areas was the programme set out for the German, and was completed with time to spare on day two.

Michael Schumacher was charged with the lone F2004 at the San Marino GP venue, and completed 86 laps over the course of the two days, as he continued to put the new car through its paces ahead of the coming season. Development work in several areas was the programme set out for the German, and was completed with time to spare on day two.

In sunny conditions, Schumacher recorded a best time of 1min 21.231secs on the second day, bettering his earlier mark by four-tenths of a second. The time compares with a 1min 20.6secs lap set by the six-time world champion in Friday qualifying at last year's San Marino race.

Testing with the F2004 will resume on Saturday [7 February], with Rubens Barrichello taking the wheel at Mugello.
