Publishing industry executive Sir Robin Miller has joined Crash Media Group Ltd as its new chairman, giving the company added impetus as it continues to expand.

A former group chief executive of publishing giant EMAP plc, a company he served for 18 years, Miller took up his new role on 4 July 2007 and brings more than four decades of industry experience to CMG, which he adds to a portfolio of interests that also includes Sport Media UK, Motorsport Development UK and Channel 4 television's new business board.

"I am delighted to be joining the board of Crash Media Group at a time when, not only is it continuing to develop its core products, but growing and expanding its interests in online media for the motorsport and automotive industry, both nationally and internationally," he said of his appointment.

CMG is best known for its online motorsport businesses Crash.net and AutocourseGPA.com, but continues to develop its presence in 'traditional' publishing, having successfully reversed the fortunes of the iconic motorsport titles Autocourse, Motocourse and Rallycourse, which it acquired from Profile Media Group three years ago.

According to managing director Bryn Williams, Miller's arrival can only help to push the company further forward.

"This appointment is a major step forward for us, as Robin will play a key strategic role in taking our business to the next level," Williams noted, "In a publishing sector rife with acquisitions of online and offline assets by larger and more powerful suitors, the value of strong and vibrant online platforms and communities is finally being realised.

"The last few months have been punctuated with approaches from numerous respected and established publishing houses, but our patience in identifying an ideal strategic individual has paid off. With the appointment of Robin, we look forward to an exciting and fruitful journey together over the next five years."
