Mexico gets new location as Formula E reveals full 2020-21 calendar

Formula E’s full calendar for the 2020-21 season will feature 15 E-Prix, the most races ever held in a single season.

Due to complications caused by the coronavirus pandemic, Formula E had initially only released the first seven rounds on its season seven calendar, which began in February with a double-header in Saudi Arabia and went up until the Monaco E-Prix on 8 May.

The biggest change will see Formula E move to a new location in Mexico for the first-ever Puebla E-Prix, which will kick off the final set of races on 19-20 June.

This move has been enforced due to the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez circuit in Mexico City currently acting as a COVID-19 field hospital.

Formula E will then head to New York City for the fifth double-header of the season around the streets of Brooklyn on 10-11 July, before London hosts rounds 12 and 13 using a unique indoor/outdoor track at the ExCel centre on 24-25 July.

The 2020-21 season will then conclude with the seventh and final double-header event in Berlin on 14-15 August.

Planned races in Marrakesh and Santiago have been removed from the calendar due to the COVID-19 pandemic, while events in Santiago, Sanya and a first-ever Seoul E-Prix will be rescheduled for season eight, with fans in attendance.

Formula E says it will “continue to monitor the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and is in constant communication with its community of teams, manufacturers, partners, broadcasters and host cities”.

All calendar updates are subject to travel restrictions, local government protocols and approval go the FIA World Motor Sport Council.
