Video reveals Marc Marquez’s initial debrief of heavy Indonesian MotoGP crash
Marc Marquez suffered a shoulder injury in a collision with Marco Bezzecchi

A new behind-the-scenes video from Ducati reveals Marc Marquez’s initial debrief of the crash with Marco Bezzecchi at the MotoGP Indonesian Grand Prix that left him injured.
The seven-time MotoGP world champion was tagged from behind by Aprilia’s Marco Bezzecchi going through the fast Turn 7 right-hander on the opening lap of last Sunday’s Indonesian Grand Prix.
The pair were taken out of the race, with Marc Marquez sent into a heavy fall which immediately left him with problems on his right shoulder.
He has since been diagnosed with a fracture at the base of the coracoid process and a ligament injury to his right shoulder.
Ducati has already confirmed he will not take part in the upcoming Australian or Malaysian Grands Prix.
Marquez said on Sunday at Mandalika that he was “sad” about the injury, but also felt the collision was a racing incident and called for calm on his social media channels amid backlash for Bezzecchi.
The injury came just a week on from Marquez winning his seventh world title in MotoGP.
Ducati’s latest episode of its Inside documentary series showed Marquez’s first debrief of the crash with his crew.
“When I touched the gravel, I was very fast,” he said.
“I had a good start, the grip was fine… normal. When I left the garage, there was something strange, but then everything was fine.
“He touched me a little from behind and I was flying. I know [it wasn’t my fault]. It wasn’t a place where we were slow.”
Marquez’s crew chief Marco Rigamonti joked that his team will “see you in Valencia at the Gala”, suggesting that he will sit out the rest of the season.
While it is unclear if Marquez will return for the final two rounds at this stage, he did reply to his crew chief.
“Come on, no. I’ll try before,” he laughed. “But it depends. I’m not sure how long it takes for the ligament [to heal].”
Bezzecchi escaped serious injury in the crash, though is likely to face a penalty for the collision for the Australian Grand Prix when he meets with the FIM stewards.
