Alex Marquez put in a dominant display on Friday afternoon at the MotoGP Spanish Grand Prix to lead Practice and secure a direct place in Q2 qualifying.
Ducati has not made the start to the 2026 season expected, compared to where it was after three rounds of the previous year’s campaign.
But the Italian manufacturer looks to be in much better shape, albeit through its satellite teams, after Fabio Di Giannantonio led FP1, while Alex Marquez led Practice on the GP26.
Alex Marquez won last year’s Spanish Grand Prix, though he played down his chances of a repeat on Thursday when speaking to the media at Jerez.
Championship leader Marco Bezzecchi was third overall at the end of Practice, as the dominant Aprilia got all four of its bikes into Q2.
Marc Marquez was fourth for the factory Ducati team, while Pecco Bagnaia brushed off an early crash to secure a Q2 place in sixth.
The biggest scalp in Practice was Pedro Acosta, who failed to make it into the top 10.
