MotoGP morning warm-up results will make for pleasing reading for those in the Ducati garage, as factory riders Andrea Dovizioso and Jorge Lorenzo ended the session first and second.

Pole man Dovizioso was just 0.096s quicker than team-mate Lorenzo, the Italian lapping the 3.3-mile Brno circuit in 1m 56.177s. Championship leader Marc Marquez was third, just 0.113s back of his foe from 2017.

There were fine margins throughout the top four, with Cal Crutchlow in fourth, 0.046s slower than fellow Honda man Marquez. After a day of controversy on Saturday, Maverick Viñales was competitive in fifth, a place ahead of Andrea Iannone, who was an early crasher in the session.

Hafizh Syahrin (seventh), Alex Rins (eighth), Jack Miller (ninth) and Valentino Rossi (tenth) all lapped the track within 0.6s of Dovizioso’s quickest time.

There were also falls for Alvaro Bautista (eleventh) and Pol Espargaro (21st). The KTM rider fell at turn three and was immediately taken to the medical centre for checks to evaluate whether he is capable of racing this afternoon.
