Romano Fenati's Marinelli Snipers Team has released the following statement after their rider was black-flagged, then handed a two-race ban, for reaching over and grabbing the front brake of rival Stefano Manzi during Sunday's Misano Moto2 race.

'We agree. It's unforgivable. A serious reaction mistake, broadcast worldwide. Clear that, if also Manzi has been punished, there is a motivation but this is not a justification.

'The team dissociates itself from what happened today with his Moto2 rider and apologises with the sporting world for the bad example, with the sponsors for the image given, with the supporters for the disappointment.

'For those asking what we will do, we answer that we take note of the disqualification, for 2 races, of our rider. We accepted it immediately. We thank the Race Direction for the professional way with which it faced the situation. We thank the Forward Racing Team for its cooperation.

'Ironically, the Forward Team will be Romano's new team for the next year and we all want to cancel this episode soon. The rider has now to understand his mistake and restart from this episode to build a new image and come back on track with dignity.'

Manzi has been given a six-place grid penalty for an earlier clash with Fenati, which appears to have caused the shocking retaliation.

MotoGP riders roundly condemned Fenati's actions, with Cal Crutchlow saying Fenati should never be allowed to race again.

Meanwhile there are rumours that Fenati's 2019 MV Agusta ride, with the Forward team, is now in doubt.
