Miller: We'll wait and see on Tuesday

Jack Miller is excited to go into the final MotoGP round strong and healthy, before stepping up to the latest Ducati machinery for 2019.

The Australian has claimed three front row starts and a best race finish of fourth (twice) during his debut season at the Pramac team, using last year's GP17, but will get a GP19 alongside official riders Andrea Dovizioso and Danilo Petrucci next season.

"It's exactly the same as the factory bike. That's some more motivation for me, having everything as it's meant to be, with the latest and greatest stuff, so I'm excited," Miller said.

Miller's new role begins on Tuesday, during the start of the post-race test.

One of the advantages of becoming the third factory rider is that Miller will get access to the most advanced seamless gearbox, rather than the lower spec version used by the satellite riders.

"They gain out of the corner, for sure," Miller said, when quizzed on the gearbox difference. "It feels a little bit like the Honda was last year. We always lack in like, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, that sort of thing.

"Or for example in Malaysia, the really tight hairpin, and as you come out you shift twice and go into Turn 10, and it seemed there they were able to go smoother, but also quicker through there.

"There's little places like that where I think it makes a bit of a difference, but it's all well and good to say now, but we'll wait and see on Tuesday…

"But I'm really, really excited, first of all to finish the season off strong, and to finish the season off healthy. It's been a few seasons without injury, so to have one without injury is pretty nice.

"I'm looking forward to here [Valencia], I think it's a good track for me. I go fast here normally.

"I love this place, I really go well here normally, and it's a track I really enjoy. There's tracks you enjoy and there's tracks you really love riding.

"This is one of those ones which you really love riding. I don't know about the flow or the stop-starts, it's quite tight with some good little straights in it. And it's left handed, so that helps."

Miller, who will be team-mate to reigning Moto2 champion Francesco Bagnaia next year, is currently 13th in the world championship, 14 points behind Aspar's Alvaro Bautista.
