Drying track. Marc Marquez walked away from a big highside after being the first to switch to slick tyres.

Reigning MotoGP champion Jorge Lorenzo fractured his left collarbone in a fall during wet Thursday practice.

Hiroshi Aoyama, injured at Catalunya, is being replaced at Avintia by team test rider Ivan Silva. Pramac's Ben Spies continues to be side-lined by his healing shoulder and is again replaced by Ducati test rider Michele Pirro.

The top ten riders after FP3 (combined times) will receive direct access to the second and final part of this afternoon's qualifying session.

Assen is a Saturday race.
