World Superbike legend Carl Fogarty is relishing the opportunity to pay tribute to former road racing rival Joey Dunlop at this month's Classic TT Races.

Fogarty will take part in the 'Joey Dunlop Road Racing Legend - The Rivals' Parade Lap' on a Honda RC30 on Saturday, August 23 and will also ride in the Classic Racer Magazine Lap of Honour on a Ducati on Monday, August 25.

"The Isle of Man holds a special place in my heart and I have said many times before that it was that part of my career which I look back on with the most happiness and pride," said Fogarty.

"I can't wait to see the new Classic TT event for myself after hearing good things about last year's first event and I am particularly excited to be part of the tribute to Joey Dunlop.

"Joey was a special rider and someone I looked up to and wanted to beat in those early World Championship years."

Four-time World Superbike champion Fogarty was a key rival to Dunlop in the Formula One World Championship, which the Ulsterman won five times.

Foggy - a winner at the Isle of Man TT in the 1989 750cc Production, 1990 Formula One and 1990 Senior races - was involved in the race voted as the greatest ever at the TT: the 1992 Senior, when he battled throughout with Scottish rider Steve Hislop.

The Blackburn star swapped the lead with Hislop throughout the six-lap race and although he eventually had to settle for second, 4.4s behind Hislop, he did have the consolation of claiming the outright lap record on the final lap.
