The "King of the Rink" Qualifier forms one half of the Speedway on Ice event that will celebrate the tenth anniversary of the inaugural Ice Speedway meeting at the Hull Arena. The other meeting will be a team competition between the Hull Vikings Speedway Team and a yet-to-be-announced team of overseas Ice Racing specialists.
Speaking of the connection between Hull and the Ice Racing World Championship series, Hull Speedway promoter Nigel Wordsworth commented "We are proud to be associated by such an important championship. Four of our riders will be invited to race in the USA over the winter, and will have the chance of winning the $5000 first prize. This is a real opportunity for a European speedway rider to shine on the world stage."
Ice Racing World Championship organiser Gary Dansford announced today, "We are looking forward to working closely with the European promoters over their November meeting, and to welcoming four top-class European riders to our Championship in January."
Now going into its twenty-eighth season, the ICE promoted World Series is the oldest championship of its type. The experience gained in that time will surely transfer to the new Hull event which promises to be an experience not to be missed.
