PICS: Tom Sykes' race comes to fiery halt

Britain's Tom Sykes lost the lead of the World Superbike Championship after his Kawasaki ZX-10R suffered an engine failure on the third lap of Sunday's race at the Moscow Raceway in Russia.

Sykes had powered through to fourth place after starting from ninth position on the grid before his race came to a sudden halt.

Britain's Tom Sykes lost the lead of the World Superbike Championship after his Kawasaki ZX-10R suffered an engine failure on the third lap of Sunday's race at the Moscow Raceway in Russia.

Sykes had powered through to fourth place after starting from ninth position on the grid before his race came to a sudden halt.

The race, which ended in driving rain, was won by GoldBet BMW's Marco Melandri from team-mate Chaz Davies with Aryton Badovini finishing third.

Aprilia's Sylvain Guintoli finished sixth to move back to the top of the World Superbike summit by four points following the eighth round of the series.
