Garrett Gerloff: As prepared as possible, we have a good package

GRT Yamaha riders Garrett Gerloff and Kohta Nozane have concluded their WorldSBK pre-season testing programme this week, with a shortened two-day test at MotorLand Aragon.

Both riders will next be in action on Friday, May 21 for the long-awaited World Superbike season opener which is also at Aragon.

Unlike the factory Yamaha team who have scheduled another test at Aragon on May 4, following the heavily rain affected outing earlier this week, GRT Yamaha will not be in attendance as they were on the last two occasions.

Gerloff only took part on day-one of the test, and added: "It was a strange test because of the bad weather conditions over the two days. Yesterday we were at least able to get a few laps in during the afternoon, but we were expecting to ride more for sure.

"I feel like we learned a couple of new things, which we will take with us to the race. We are as prepared as possible, and I feel like we have a good package."

The American has been mightily impressive throughout pre-season testing as he heads into his second campaign in WorldSBK.

Following the Official Barcelona and first Aragon test, Gerloff has looked like a consistent top five runner and potential podium challenger going into this season, and will likely be involved with Chaz Davies for top independent rider honors at season’s end.

For Nozane, the rain provided a first opportunity to get his first laps in the wet on a World Superbike machine.

"With it being my second time here in Aragón, I expected something more compared to last week, but the conditions were bad and yesterday I was not able to set a good pace," said Nozane.

"I wish today had been better, but at least I could test the Pirelli wet tyres for the first time, which was very positive.

"It is all good experience heading into the first race. This is a difficult circuit, but I will be fully prepared for the opening race and I hope to have a good fight."
