Team Ranieri Med SC Racing has unexpectedly withdrawn from the World Supersport championship leaving Kyle Ryde without a race seat.

Team Ranieri Med SC Racing has unexpectedly pulled out of the World Supersport championship leaving Kyle Ryde without a race seat.

The former British Supersport rider stepped up to the international stage over the winter with Team Ranieri Med on a Yamaha YZF-R6 but has been given the shock news that his team is withdrawing from the championship with immediate effect just days after round five at Imola.

Ryde has been released from his contract with the team and is now searching for a ride elsewhere but says the decision came as a huge surprise.

"It is with great regret that we have to inform you, Team Ranieri Med - SC Racing have withdrawn from the 2016 World Supersport Championship with immediate effect," a statement read on his personal website. "This devastating news has come completely out of the blue with no prior discussion or warning."

No reason or cause has been given for Team Ranieri Med's exit from the World Supersport championship and Ryde says he will issue a statement in due course regarding his future plans.

After storming to the podium in his maiden WSS race as a wildcard at Donington Park last year, the 2015 British Supersport runner-up made the full-time move to the international series this year. Ryde currently sits 24th in the WSS riders' championship with two points-scoring finishes at Aragon and Assen.
