Patrick Hobelsberger has become the latest addition to the 2022 WorldSSP grid after the German signed with Kallio Racing.

Hobelsberger will take part in his second full season in WorldSSP - the first of those came in 2020 as he only competed in five races during the 2021 campaign.

Instead, the 25 year-old was a full-time rider in this year’s German Supersport class, a series he went on to win after claiming seven wins from 12 races, putting him 76 points clear of his nearest challenger.

Hobelsberger joins Kallio Racing which is the same team that former WorldSBK rider and fellow German Sandro Cortese competed for, which ‘feels really amazing’.

Hobelsberger, who is yet to claim a WorldSSP podium, already has his eyes set on achieving such a result with Most and Barcelona being two tracks he fancies himself to do so.

"I'm joining the Kallio Racing team with really great feelings. I've always admired Sandro Cortese, and it really feels amazing to join the same team where he was too," added Hobelsberger.

"I've got pretty big goals for the season ahead. I am working very hard to achieve them; I train on a pushbike almost every day, and on a motorcycle as well.

"I want to get the season started in the best possible way. It would be great to start within the top ten.

"I think at Most, and Barcelona, I have a chance to finish on the podium and that's my biggest goal.

"To be honest, I really believe this is possible if only I can get the qualifications to succeed, as starting from mid-pack has always been a bit problematic for me."
