O’Halloran: I’m going there thinking we can win, but will be close

McAMS Yamaha rider Jason O’Halloran expects Brands Hatch to be ‘as close and tight as ever’, but that victory is the main aim at round three of the BSB season.
O’Halloran: I’m going there thinking we can win, but will be close

Jason O’Halloran has his eyes set on victory at this weekend’s third round of the Bennetts British Superbike campaign.

The Australian rider has good memories at Brands Hatch thanks to a recent race one win in 2020, which he called ‘one of the best races’ I’ve ever ridden’.

It’s the type of performance that will in all likelihood be required again if he’s to claim victory given the competitive nature of this year’s field.

Following Knockhill where O’Halloran claimed a podium in race one, top six in race three, but a crash in race two which saw the championship lead change hands, the McAMS Yamaha rider is hoping to use the Yamaha’s strengths at Brands to his advantage.

"Knockhill was a bit of an unknown for me, I'd never been on the podium there and in 2019 we had some issues so I hadn’t really raced the R1 properly there before, so to come out with a podium and a top six I was pretty happy," added O'Halloran.

"Of course, it would have been nice not to have crashed in race two but these things happen. Brands is a circuit I really enjoy.

"I won one of the best races I’ve ever ridden in there last October and finished on the podium in the other two races, so we know it is a good circuit for the R1 and we have definitely improved since then.

"I’m going there thinking we can win but of course it will be as close and tight as ever, which will no doubt produce some incredible racing for the fans at the track."
