Thruxton ‘so fast and flowing, suits the R1’ - Mackenzie

King of Brands, Tarran Mackenzie, heads into round four of the 2021 Bennetts British Superbike championship looking to extend his current run of five consecutive podiums.

Aside from championship leader Christian Iddon, Mackenzie is the only rider to finish every race inside the top six so far this year.

Last weekend’s round three at Brands Hatch was Mackenzie’s best of 2021 to date as he claimed a first win and two more podiums.

The podium run of five in a row for Mackenzie is one that’s helped McAMS Yamaha finish every one of the nine races with either the Scot or team-mate Jason O’Halloran standing on the podium - only team to do that.

"I can’t wait to get to Thruxton this weekend off the back of a really strong weekend at Brands. I’ve been on the podium in the last five races now so we are in a good position," added Mackenzie.

"It’ll be good to get back to Thruxton, it’s like nothing else to ride on a Superbike, just so fast and flowing and that suits the R1.

"The team as a whole has a lot of momentum right now, either me or Jason [O’Halloran] have been on the podium in every race so hopefully we can keep that up.

"As we’ve seen this week with Brands straight into Thruxton, this part of the championship is going to go very quickly so it’s important to continue how we’ve started."
