After back-to-back Independents' titles, 2009 saw Colin Turkington step up to the plate to become overall BTCC champion for the first time.

The Team RAC man started the season with two podiums at Brands Hatch and took a first win of the year at Thruxton - with five further wins coming later in the year.

Two victories at both Oulton Park and Croft saw Turkington move into the of the standings and while his final win of the season came at Snetterton - with twelve races still to go - the Northern Irishman drove with his head to regularly pick up points and hold off the challenge of Jason Plato and Fabrizio Giovanardi.

A more mature, more aggressive Turkington also picked up the Independents' title for the third successive season and was crowned as your top driver for the season following our vote.
