Organisers are keen to reduce the size of the BTCC grid to increase competition levels across the series. As a result, the two additional TOCA TBL licences will not be released to additional entrants, despite “receiving serious applicants from no fewer than three new teams”, according to the BTCC entry list statement.

HMS Racing has confirmed it will sit-out the 2019, but has planned a 2020 comeback, meaning it has loaned its TBL licence to Motorbase Performance for next year.

Teams will announce full driver line-ups and cars for the new BTCC season over the coming weeks, prior to the release of the finalised entry list, which is set to arrive next March.

The 2019 BTCC campaign gets underway at Brands Hatch Indy on April 6-7.
