JTR's Lewis Plato has claimed his first Porsche Carrera Cup GB race victory of 2018 at Donington Park after holding off a late three-car onslaught during the latter stages of the second race.

The JTR driver started from pole position and led every single lap of the lengthened 33 lap race but came under a barrage of pressure during the last third after a late safety car period bunched the field back up.

Having enjoyed some degree of breathing space for the majority of the race, Plato had to fend off Tom Wrigley, Dino Zamparelli and race one winner Tio Ellinas as the front four entered the climax of the race nose-to-tail.

A backmarker on the final lap of the race threatened to blow the battle wide open. However, Plato ultimately prevailed ahead of his JTR stablemate Wrigley, who claimed his best finish in the series in second.

Redline Racing's Zamparelli narrowly increased his slender points lead over Ellinas after beating his championship rival to the final step on the rostrum in third.

IN2 Racing's Will Bratt was impressive fifth on his first weekend in the Porsche series ahead of the Pro-Am category winner Jamie Orton in sixth position.

Despite sitting second in the early stages of the race, Dan Harper finished down in seventh ahead of Pro-Am runners Seb Perez and Justin Sherwood in eighth and ninth.

James Kaye completed the remainder of the top-ten, while Peter Mangion once took the Am class honours with a 12th place finish.
