McLaren duo Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton are set to sparkle on the streets of Monte Carlo after the team revealed a deal with the Steinmetz Diamond Group for the Monaco Grand Prix.

The deal will see the pair run with diamond crests on the steering wheel of their cars in celebration of their respective championship winning seasons, with Button having 09 on his steering wheel and Hamilton 08.

The steering wheels have been customised by Steinmetz master craftsmen using beautifully cut Steinmetz white diamonds and were due to be unveiled at Monaco's exclusive Villa la Vigie today [Wednesday].

"We are delighted to be back in Monaco, to celebrate the most prestigious race of the Formula 1 season with the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team," Marketing Director of Steinmetz, Lior Levin said. "Steinmetz is back in Monaco for our eighth season and we couldn't think of a better way to commemorate the occasion than working on a unique collaboration with Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton.

"We look forward to a fantastic race on Sunday and hope the Steinmetz diamond crafted steering wheels will prove to be lucky for the drivers."

McLaren is no stranger to racing with diamonds on its cars or drivers in Monaco, with Hamilton having won the race in 2008 wearing a diamond-studded helmet.
