Irvine To Re-sign.

Eddie Irvine should confirm that he will stay with Ferrari for a fourth season in the next week.


Irvine is currently looking for improved conditions from the Italian team, including a salary increase and the opportunity to race on equal terms with team-mate Michael Schumacher. The German has already committed himself to Ferrari until the end of 2002, and has expressed his desire for Irvine to continue as his team-mate, as he rates the Ulsterman as the best partner he has had.

Irvine has admitted, however, that having to play second fiddle to Schumacher is demotivating him, and that he seeks parity with the German next season. The Irishman has reportedly been in negotiation with Williams about leading the team in 1999, but this is thought to be merely a ruse to improve his lot with Ferrari.
