Spectator Tragedy At Silverstone.

One man was killed and three injured after an evening prank backfired at the British Grand Prix yesterday [Friday].


The men had somehow managed to smuggle their MGF sportscar onto the circuit after dark and were in the process of completing a lap when the vehicle overturned in a gravel trap between Vale and Club corners. Although three of the car's occupants managed to escape, a fourth was trapped and had to be freed by the local fire service. Despite the efforts of the emergency services, however, the man was later confirmed dead at the scene.

Despite the efforts of the emergency services, however, the man was later confirmed dead at the scene.

After treatment for minor injuries, the three remaining occupants were released from hospital, but the driver of the car - a 32-year old man from Helston in Cornwall - was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter. It was later revealed that all four men involved were Royal Navy personnel visiting the circuit for the grand prix.
