<I>Hollyoaks</I> star gets British GP role.

As anticipation of the British Grand Prix continues build, Silverstone has presented Gemma Atkinson as the 'female face' of this year's race.

The successful model and former Hollyoaks star is expected to get pulses racing in the build-up top the event, as she adds an extra touch of glamour to the intensity and excitement of a grand prix already benefiting from the emergence of Lewis Hamilton as a world title contender.

"I'm a huge F1 fan, so the opportunity to be part of the British Grand Prix is fantastic for me," Atkinson admitted, "I've never been before, but I've heard that the atmosphere is amazing. To experience the sheer noise and power of the cars will be unbelievable. As this year's 'Face of the British Grand Prix', I'll be heading to Silverstone on 8 July, so will be able to wish all the British drivers good luck in person."

The locally-based Etihad Aldar Spyker Formula One Team helped set the scene for the announcement by supplying an F1 car for Atkinson to pose with.

Tickets for the British Grand Prix are still available from the circuit box office at www.silverstone.co.uk or by calling 08704 588 300, priced at ?99 - or ?50 for children for a three-day general admission pass. Silverstone has also introduced Family Tickets for the Friday and Saturday of the meeting, with a family of four - comprising two adults and two children - able to enjoy Friday practice for as little as ?79, and Saturday's practice and qualifying for ?139.
