Hamilton poised for Goodwood debut?

Lewis Hamilton looks set to make his British Formula One debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, rather than the British Grand Prix, according to rumours.

Although not yet on the Festival's official entry list, Hamilton's presence at the wheel of one of McLaren's grand prix machines looks likely to be confirmed in the next few days, guaranteeing that he will make his Formula One debut on home soil some two weeks before Silverstone's annual round of the world championship.

The Briton has been taking the F1 world by storm since making his debut at the Australian Grand Prix in March and will make Goodwood more of a draw than usual, although entry to the 22-24 June event remains by advance ticket only, with sales already reported to be doing their regular brisk trade.

Should Hamilton be confirmed, he will join F1 rivals Jenson Button, Anthony Davidson, Christian Klien, Franck Montagny, Ralf Schumacher and Mark Webber among the list of major names scheduled to be racing up the famous hill.
