Magnussen: No guarantee Haas form will continue

Haas' impressive form at the Formula 1 season-opener in Australia last weekend is no guarantee that it will be strong at the next race in Bahrain, according to Kevin Magnussen.

Magnussen and teammate Romain Grosjean looked poised to both finish in the top five in Australia before both were hit with issues in the pits, forcing them to retire from the race within two laps of each other.

Haas' pace surprised much of the F1 paddock as it led the midfield pack, and while Magnussen took confidence from the team's display, he stressed it was not guaranteed to continue in Bahrain next weekend.

"It was good to have a competitive car in Australia. I enjoyed driving the car all weekend," Magnussen said.

"But there’s no guarantee we’ll be that strong in Bahrain, so we have to work hard to try and understand the car and make sure we carry the performance forward into the next race.

“I’m not taking anything for granted. Again, we have a good car, but I’m cautious. We’ll take it one race at a time."

Despite the disappointment of seeing the chance to beat the team's best result in F1 disappear, Magnussen is sure that Haas can move on quickly and refocus to bounce back in Bahrain.

"We try to refocus and look forward to the next one," Magnussen said. "We take the positives that we can from Australia, which is we have a good car. We take that forward to Bahrain.

"We win together and we lose together. Everyone makes mistakes sometimes – we have to make room for that – but we’ll learn from that and improve together."
