Moto2: Sam Lowes unveils Gresini livery

These are the racing colours that new Gresini signing Sam Lowes aims to take to Moto2 title glory in 2016.

The former World Supersport champion has joined Gresini and Kalex after spending two seasons at Speed Up, where he claimed a debut Moto2 victory on the way to fourth in last year's standings.

Indeed, Lowes was the only non-Kalex rider in the top 13 but will now get the chance to face the likes of Johann Zarco and Alex Rins on the same chassis before stepping up to MotoGP with Aprilia in 2017.

"Having the team presentation inside the team headquarters in Faenza was exciting: the bike in the new colours is great, the design is really nice and aggressive," Lowes said.

"The tests so far have been very positive: the team has worked really well and also today we felt a nice atmosphere, so I expect a fantastic season.

"Our goal is clear: we are aiming for the title, so I hope we can continue our pre-season preparations in the best possible way and start the championship on the right foot with a good result in Qatar."

Team principal Fausto Gresini added: "The project we have built for the 2016 Moto2 World Championship is really exciting: we feel confident because we think that we have everything it takes to have a great season. A competitive bike, which has an impactful new Federal Oil livery, a very fast rider on which we place great hopes, and valuable partners who strongly believe in us and which have been supporting us for a long time. Last but not least, we have a great desire to win.

"Sam Lowes is equally determined and we are pleased that he has decided to race with our team, with which he immediately felt at ease. It won't be easy, of course, but we will undoubtedly be protagonists and we will have fun. I would like to thank Federal Oil for the renewed trust they placed in us: in the season that marks our fifth year together, we want to repay them with a great result.

"This year, moreover, Gresini Racing celebrates 20 seasons in the World Championship: an incredible achievement which proves that our team now represents an important piece of the history of this sport."

Gresini finished seventh in last year's Moto2 standings with Xavier Simeon, the Belgian winning the German Grand Prix.

Alongside the Moto2 launch, Enea Bastianini and Fabio Di Giannantonio unveiled the livery of their Gresini Honda machines for this year's Moto3 World Championship.

The first Moto2/Moto3 official test of 2016 takes place at Jerez from March 2-4.
