Rossi, Edwards back Lorenzo decision.

Fellow M1 riders Valentino Rossi and Colin Edwards both believe that Jorge Lorenzo did the right thing in signing a new contract with Yamaha for the 2010 season.

Lorenzo was closely matched with the Italian in the 2009 world championship standings until he crashed out of the lead at both Donington Park and Brno, and has proven to be Rossi's toughest MotoGP team-mate since joining Yamaha's factory outfit in 2008.

Rossi thinks the 22-year-old made the best decision, even if a move to Honda or Ducati would have created more interest.

"We heard a lot of rumors before that Jorge is maybe moving to Honda or to Ducati. For sure if Jorge was to change bike it is big, is a lot a lot of changes in MotoGP, no? And is interesting. But Jorge remain," said Rossi, who starts this weekend's Indianapolis round with a 50 point lead over nearest rival Lorenzo.

"I think he made the right choice because in this moment our bike is not the fastest on the straight, but is very good in the corners. We have good setting. We work a lot with the engineers, and the bike is well balanced. So I think at the end he made the right choice," added the reigning six time MotoGP champion.

Lorenzo took Edwards' place alongside Rossi when he graduated from the 250cc class as a double world champion.

"He made the right decision," said Edwards, who moved to the satellite Tech 3 team as a result of Lorenzo's arrival. "I mean, it doesn't really matter what my opinion is, but personally, I think he made the right decision."
