Alex Rins feels he’ll favour using Suzuki’s reinforced carbon fibre chassis from next season having been impressed by test rider Sylvain Guintoli’s feedback and information on the new chassis.

Rins ended the post-Czech Republic round test at Brno in ninth place on the final times, with a best lap of 1m 55.986s, having spent the morning focusing on electronic improvements followed by trying out the new chassis Guintoli used during the weekend.

It is believed the new Suzuki chassis includes more carbon fibre reinforcement, with Rins eager to test it with back-to-back running against his current chassis.

Speaking before trialling the new chassis, Rins was hopeful it would aid his drive on corner exit and had been impressed by Guintoli’s feedback at the Czech Republic circuit.

“This afternoon we will try new chassis for 2019 which we haven’t tried yet but it looks good,” Rins said. “Guintoli has tried it and he did the whole weekend with this chassis and it looks good.

“We will compare one more time with the standard one. I prefer the carbon one because it looks like on the exit of the corner it is starting a little bit better and there are no negative points in the rest of the areas.

“I think that we will continue to use this chassis. For the new chassis for 2019 we need to start work to try to create a more competitive bike.”

Rins and the rest of the MotoGP paddock will now dart to the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg ahead of the Austrian MotoGP round which runs back-to-back with the Czech Republic race following the summer break.
