Lorenzo Savadori will line-up alongside Matteo Ferrari to complete the Gresini MotoE team ahead of the inaugural season.

Savadori, who has factory links to Aprilia where Gresini runs the Italian manufacturer’s MotoGP squad, had found himself without a 2019 race seat following SMR’s switch from Aprilia to BMW in World Superbikes.

The 25-year-old has duly been called up by Gresini to complete its rider line-up in MotoE to mark his return to the Grand Prix paddock for the first time since 2010 during his 125cc days.

Savadori will contest the first-ever MotoE campaign alongside Ferrari, who was announced last month, in preparation for testing which gets underway at Jerez on 23-25 November.

The inaugural MotoE championship gets underway at Jerez next May before four further rounds at Le Mans, Sachsenring, Spielberg and Misano racing as part of the support classes to MotoGP in 2019.
