Enea Bastianini is one of three rookies heading into the 2021 MotoGP season, and firmly has his eyes set on being rookie of the year.

All three rookies form part of Ducati's rider line-ups with Jorge Martin at Pramac and Luca Marini at Avintia Esponsorama Ducati alongside Bastianini.

Much like the Moto2 championship last season, the rookie of the year battle will be a hard-fought one between the three.

Bastianini finished testing as the quickest of the three on the majority of days and heads into the season aiming for top ten position finishes.

The Italian said: "No the pressure is not so great. I want to arrive in the top ten of course in all the races, but there are so many riders that are fast right now.

"From the middle of the championship I want to be always in the top ten and also be the best rookie. This is my objective for this year but if I can't do this, I will improve more for next year."

After completing five days at the Losail International Circuit, which is the venue for the first two races, Bastianini spoke about his first impressions of the MotoGP bike and what worked well.

"Yeah the first impression was that the MotoGP bike was good from the start. It was good with the brakes, I felt really comfortable with this.

"And after these days, the only real problem was to release the brake. The tyres are so different from the ones we use in Moto2. You can push a lot more and in the middle of the corner you can be faster.

"So adapting with the bike was good from the start, and after three days I was riding softer and more relaxed and now I have more confidence with the bike."
