"Marc took a big hit to the upper arm, now they are checking it and doing an X-Ray. He has had some pain killers for the pain." Alberto Puig, Repsol Honda Team Manager
More updates to follow.
Vinales - who joined only team-mate Rossi (technical DNF) in selecting the soft front tyre - had been on the verge of losing second to Marquez, but instead finished runner-up to Quartararo with Dovizioso snatching third from the fellow Ducati of Miller.
Two riders were declared unfit to take part in today's race.
Alex Rins suffered a fracture and dislocation of his shoulder in yesterday's qualifying session, with Cal Crutchlow then ruled out due to a concussion and neck trauma after a heavy fall in morning warm-up.
Both, like Marc Marquez, now have just five days to pass a medical if they are to ride in next weekend's second Jerez event.
