The opening World Superbike race at Assen has been delayed due to snow and cold conditions.

The Dutch circuit has been hit with very chilly weather all race weekend with light snow arriving at Assen midway through World Supersport qualifying.

While World Superport 300 qualifying was completed in the difficult conditions, organisers delayed the start of World Superbike race one due to weather conditions.

With snow and rain continuing to threaten in the chilly conditions, race organisers opted to wait for the weather and temperatures to improve.

After the start was delayed for 15 minutes, an initial starting grid was attempted but heavy snow and rain returned which forced everyone back into the garages.

More to follow.
