Leonardo Taccini will officially join Dominique Aegerter at Ten Kate Yamaha for the 2022 WorldSSP season.

The Italian rider, who was given an opportunity to compete for the team after replacing Galang Hendra Pratama in the penultimate round in San Juan, is scheduled to take part in his first full WorldSSP season.

While the Ten Kate Yamaha R6 is one of the best packages to be on, the 19 year-old will have one of the toughest challenges of any rider as new team-mate and 2021 world champion Aegerter was not beaten by his team-mate throughout his entire rookie season.

"Ten Kate Racing is a great opportunity for me, with them I can show my true potential," added Taccini. "They are one of the best teams in the Supersport paddock and have proven that many times.

"They not only became world champions with Dominique Aegerter last year, but also won the title for the tenth time. I will do everything to repay the trust put in me with strong results."

With Taccini’s addition to the 2022 WorldSSP grid, it means just three rides are left to be confirmed.

Kallio Racing are yet to announce who will ride alongside German Patrick Hobelsberger, while GMT94 Yamaha are in a similar position with their seat opposite Jules Cluzel - it’s expected that Valentin Debise will continue on with the team. Lastly there is the Orelac Kawasaki team who are yet to confirm Raffaele De Rosa, which is a matter of when not if.

Speaking about the new addition to his Ten Kate team, Team Manager Kervin Bos said: "Leonardo has already shown his talent with eleventh place in Argentina. He brought a lot of energy into our box. And what is particularly important for us: He got faster with every session. With him we have a young and talented driver in the team, we will have a lot of fun."
