Leonardo Taccini heads into the 2022 WorldSSP season with new goals in mind after signing with Ten Kate Yamaha.

The Italian, who replaces Indonesian rider Galang Hendra Pratama, will have the tough task of going up against new team-mate and 2021 world champion Dominique Aegerter.

With that said, the move to Ten Kate - one of the intermediate class’ most successful teams - is one that he believes can help him fight at the front, to the point of dreaming about a promotion to WorldSBK.

"I want to be up there this year; I think it is an achievable goal considering the work done with the team and the progress made," Taccini told WorldSBK.

"I really like the WorldSBK paddock and my dream is to be in the premier class here.

"In the meantime, I'm thinking about 2022; I'm convinced that if we work hard, we can achieve great results!"

Taccini is no stranger to his new team after competing for them during the penultimate round of last season (San Juan). Although the Italian scored just five points from two races, Taccini said discussions about joining the team took place fairly quickly.

Taccini added: "The team was very happy with what I was able to do on my debut with them and so we started talking about 2022.

"Finally, we managed to find a very good agreement for both parties. I have a clear goal for this season: I want to do the best I can, because we have all the credentials to do that, also thanks to the great team spirit we share. I know almost all the tracks on the calendar, except for Indonesia and Australia."
