Brookes escapes serious injury in test crash

British Superbike Championship leader Josh Brookes is confident he will be fit in time for the seventh round of the season at Snetterton despite a crash during testing.

The Australian was launched into a high-side from the HM Plant Honda during an outing at Darley Moor as the team worked on a new engine specification it intends to use for its World Superbike wild-card at Silverstone.

Admitting to 'hurting all over', Brookes was taken for x-rays but has been told he hasn't broken anything and is now turning his attention to getting on the pace at the upcoming Snetterton triple-header.

"I just had a big high-side and flew quite high in the air and came down quite heavily on the base of my back in almost a seated position and then I got slapped around a bit," he told the BSB website.

"To start with we thought I might have broken something, but since then I have had some x-rays and it is not showing any breaks. The hand is starting to feel better and I can squeeze it again now, which I couldn't do initially so that is a good sign.

"When I took the boot off to start with I had some real sharp pain in my foot but the x-rays show nothing is broken so maybe I just need to man up a bit! I just hurt all over right now and feel pretty rubbish but you have to expect that when you crash at that speed."
