John Laverty will return to Kawasaki machinery for the final two rounds of the 2012 MCE British Superbike Championship after being called up by Pr1mo Bournemouth Kawasaki.

The former BSB Cup champion, who suffered serious injuries in an accident at Oulton Park last season, returned to full-time competition in 2012 aboard the Splitlath Redmond Aprilia, but was axed ahead of the ninth round at Donington Park having failed to crack the points.

Nonetheless, Laverty will be back on a bike for the final two events at Silverstone and Brands Hatch as part of the Pr1mo Bournemouth team in place of regular rider James Hillier.

The move will see Laverty back on a Kawasaki, two years after scoring his first BSB podium on the way to eighth in the overall standings aboard a ZX-10R. Joining Chris Walker in the team, Laverty is confident he can make an impression on the race-winning bike.

"I am happy to be back in the championship this weekend and it will be good to finish off the season with the team as they have a lot of knowledge and experience of racing Superbikes.

"At the start of this season I wasn't obviously at full fitness as I was still recovering from my crash but now I am feeling much stronger. I have raced a Kawasaki before so hopefully it will feel more familiar to me when we roll out on Friday."
