Byrne, Irwin remain at Be Wiser Ducati for 2018

The Be Wiser Ducati team will remain unchanged for the 2018 MCE British Superbike championship after Shane Byrne took up the second year of his current contract while Glenn Irwin has re-signed on a one-year deal.

Defending BSB champion Byrne leads the BSB Showdown standings as he hunts a sixth championship title this season and will stay in the PBM fold for 2018 as expected with Irwin remaining as his team-mate next season.

Team owner Paul Bird is thrilled to retain an unaltered rider and team line-up for a third consecutive BSB campaign having returned to running with Ducati bikes in 2016.

“We offered a two-year deal to Shakey and this is our commitment to honouring that as he continues to be a class act in BSB,” Bird said. “Glenn has also shown what a talent he is and despite his injuries, he’s had a great season for us.

“We wanted to be the first team to commit to the series for 2018 and continue with the great team we have. We can now concentrate all our efforts on doing our best to win the 2017 British Superbike Championship.”
