The McAMS Yamaha squad and riders Josh Brookes and Tarran Mackenzie will lead the 20th anniversary celebrations of the YZF-R1 at this weekend’s Bennetts British Superbike round at Brands Hatch.

Following the success of the R1 in BSB, with Brookes most recently securing the 2015 title, Yamaha will put on unique displays and collections of the iconic Superbike at the Kent track.

On-track, the McAMS Yamaha duo Brookes and Mackenzie will run in an anniversary tribute paint scheme and one-off matching leathers.

“It’s certainly going to be a cool couple of weeks flying the Yamaha flag, first at Goodwood and now the R1 20th Anniversary at Brands Hatch,” Brookes said. “I’m looking forward to riding in our anniversary colours, checking out the special R1 displays and meeting the fans at the Yamaha truck for sure.”

Yamaha has also organised a celebration interview and autograph session on the Yamaha promotional truck with stars past and present including BSB Champions Niall Mackenzie, Tommy Hill and Josh Brookes along with visits from Tarran Mackenzie and Steve Plater.

Alongside riders past and present, there will be an exclusive gathering of special YZF-R1’s celebrating the iconic machine’s success including:

2006 Nori Haga WorldSBK R1

2009 Ben Spies WorldSBK R1
