Scott Redding has maintained his perfect record of topping every session so far at the Assen round ahead of the start of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship Showdown.

The Be Wiser Ducati rider will start Race 1 from pole position and duly retained his dominance at the Dutch circuit by topping the 20-minute warm-up session with a 1m 36.242s.

BSB championship leader Josh Brookes closed up to 0.571s off Redding with his final lap in warm-up but still couldn’t get within reach of his Be Wiser Ducati team-mate.

Brookes’ late lap shuffled Honda’s Xavi Fores down to third place but the Spanish rider kept in front of BSB Showdown challenger Tommy Bridewell for Oxford Racing Ducati who starts Race 1 from second place on the grid.

With Buildbase Suzuki duo Luke Stapleford and Bradley Ray slotting in behind Bridewell in fifth and sixth respectively, it saw BSB Showdown fighter Peter Hickman in seventh place for Smiths Racing BMW.

The final two BSB Showdown contenders endured a low-key warm-up with Danny Buchan in 14th place for FS-3 Racing Kawasaki and Tarran Mackenzie all the way down in 20th on the timesheet for McAMS Yamaha – 1.6s slower than Redding at the top.

Tyco BMW’s Glenn Irwin suffered a fast fall at Turn 7 during warm-up but was reported okay after the off.

Assen hosts the opening round of the BSB Showdown ahead of the penultimate round at Donington Park’s GP circuit before the three-race finale at Brands Hatch next month.
