Josh Brookes has maintain his momentum in warm-up heading into the Bennetts British Superbike championship title deciders against Be Wiser Ducati team-mate Scott Redding at Brands Hatch.

The 2015 BSB champion claimed victory in the opener of the final round triple-header to trim Redding’s lead down to 19 points in the standings.

Brookes has duly kept hold of top spot in the 15-minute warm-up session held in very cold but dry conditions at the Kent circuit. The Australian’s 1m 26.644s was enough to keep clear of Redding’s late improvement with just 0.047s splitting the pair at the end of the session.

With the ex-MotoGP rider finishing in third place in Race 1, Redding knows he can secure the BSB title with a pair of rostrum finishes today regardless of what Brookes can produce.

Fresh from re-signing with Smiths Racing BMW, Peter Hickman ended warm-up in third place, within half a second of the leading Be Wiser Ducatio duo and in front of Tyco BMW’s Christian Iddon and former team-mate James Ellison on the OMG Racing Suzuki.

With Honda’s Andrew Irwin in sixth place, FS-3 Racing Kawasaki’s Danny Buchan claimed seventh in the warm-up session.

Tommy Bridewell, who was mathematically eliminated from the BSB title fight in yesterday’s Race 1, completed just one timed lap in warm-up leaving him 23rd and last of the riders to set lap times in the cold conditions.

Race 2 takes place at 12:45 local time before the 2019 BSB finale at 16:00.
