Motorbase powered by new Ford engine in 2015

Motorbase Performance have announced their Ford Focus ST cars will be powered by the all-new Ford EcoBoost engines in the 2015 BTCC season

British Touring Car Championship team Motorbase Performance have announced their Ford Focus ST cars will be powered by the all-new Ford EcoBoost engines for the upcoming season.

It will be the first time the engines will used in British racing and the Kent-based team hope the new power will propel them up the grid.

The team scored two victories in 2014 thanks to Mat Jackson at the wheel and finished fourth in the team championship.

The new engine, which has been developed by Mountune, is ready for pre-season testing ahead of the opening round of the 2015 BTCC season at Brands Hatch on 4-5 April.

"It's been a busy winter for us behind the scenes, but I'm delighted to be in a position to finally go public with this very exciting development for Motorbase." Team Principal David Bartrum said. "The Ford EcoBoost engine has been a long time in the planning and it's only really come together in recent months thanks to the great teamwork and input from Mountune and our technical partners."

Motorbase have already announced that former sports car driver Alex Martin will be racing for the team for the upcoming season and a second driver and new team sponsor is expected to be announced imminently.

Bartum added: "It's early days yet and we've obviously still got a long way to go in terms of testing and development but it's great news for Motorbase, Ford and the BTCC. I'm confident that we'll be back in the thick of it once more when the flag drops in April."
