Redline Racing's Dino Zamparelli has taken a crucial Porsche Carrera Cup GB pole position ahead of his main title rival Tio Ellinas for the first race at Silverstone.

Zamparelli carries a slender five-point lead ahead of Ellinas into the penultimate meeting of the 2018 season, and the two main title protagonists will start tomorrow's opening locked together on the front-row.

Ellinas had initially propelled his Slidesports Engineering prepared 911 GT3 Cup car to the top of the timesheets, only for Zamparelli to dip below that benchmark with a 55.604s lap.

Dan Harper was just a further 0.021s back to lead the second row in third, ahead of JTR stablemates Lewis Plato and Tom Wrigley, who ended the 30-minute shootout in fourth and fifth.

George Gamble was sixth fastest for Amigos Team Parker, marginally ahead of the returning Will Bratt in seventh.

Dan Welch took a narrow Pro-Am class pole position in eighth overall, as Jamie Orton and Seb Perez completed the remainder of the top-ten order behind their Pro-Am rival.

Peter Kyle-Henney qualified 13th overall as the lead Am runner, almost 0.2s faster than his nearest category rival Peter Mangion in 15th.

Kyle Henney must overhaul a 10-point deficit if he's to take the Am points initiative from long-term leader Mangion.
