Aston Martin are the latest F1 team to launch their 2024 challenger for the new season, having presented their new AMR24.

In a launch event at their Silverstone base, Aston Martin revealed their latest F1 car to be driven by Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll this year as they look to build on a strong 2023 campaign.

The AMR24 will run for the first time today as Aston Martin carry out a shakedown test at the British Grand Prix venue.

Aston Martin technical director Dan Fallows is confident the team have made a “good step” with their new car.

“Even with the stable regulations, there are endless possibilities for refinement,” Fallows explained.

"I would call the AMR24 a strong evolution of last year’s car and it does look quite different with many new parts to give us a strong platform for development.

“The chassis design is new, as well as the nose, front wing, front suspension and rear suspension. We want to compete in the development race this season and this car is designed to do just that.

"Another area of focus has been to broaden the car’s operating window. We have focused on more versatility for a wider range of specific circuit characteristics.

“We want a race car that is more of an all-rounder. We believe the AMR24 provides the ideal platform for in-season development and a sustained season-long challenge.”

Team principal Mike Krack hopes the AMR24 will enable Aston Martin to fight for their first grand prix win in 2024.

“We are proud to debut the AMR24,” said Team Principal, Mike Krack. “It is the result of a huge effort by the whole team at our new AMR Technology Campus and it will allow the team to take another step forward in 2024.

“Since the last race in 2023, everyone has been hyper-focused on improvements in every area, concentrating our efforts on what really makes a difference, what really matters to be better.

“Almost every area of the car has been refined and improved, building on our strengths, and taking on board the lessons of the previous campaign.

"2023 was our best season to date and our goal this season is to score regular points, podiums, and fight for our first win in green.”

Aston Martin took everyone by surprise last year when they emerged from the winter break as Red Bull’s nearest challengers during the early rounds of the season, with Alonso starring as he made several trips to the podium.

Results declined for Aston Martin as the season reached its midpoint and rival teams developed their respective cars, but the British outfit still secured fifth place in the constructors’ to mark a vast improvement on 2022.

On Tuesday, Ferrari will launch their 2024 challenger, before Mercedes unveil their eagerly-anticipated W15 a day later.

Red Bull will be the final team to present their 2024 F1 car on Thursday when they pull the covers off their RB20.

Pre-season testing takes place next week in Bahrain before the season-opening race on March 2.
