Red Bull Formula 1 driver Isack Hadjar has been disqualified from Miami Grand Prix qualifying, dropping him from ninth to the back of the grid.

The FIA noted on Saturday evening that Isack Hadjar’s car was under investigation over potentially illegal floor boards.

“After the qualifying, legality volumes were checked on car number 06,” the statement read.

“The lhs and rhs floor board were protruding 2mm out of the reference volume RV-FLOOR BOARD.

“As this is not in compliance with Article C3.5.5 of the Formula 1 Technical Regulation, I am referring this matter to the stewards for their consideration.”

Red Bull faced a stewards’ hearing on Sunday morning ahead of the Miami Grand Prix, where it was determined that Hadjar’s car was illegal.

As a result, he has been disqualified from the results, after originally putting his Red Bull ninth on the grid.

The FIA explained its decision in its penalty notice: “The Stewards heard from the team representatives of Car 6 (Isack Hadjar).

“They did not dispute the findings of the Technical Delegate that portions of the LHS and RHS floor boards were protruding 2mm out of the reference volume RV-FLOOR BOARD.

“This is a breach of Article C3.5.5 of the FIA F1 Regulations and the usual consequences follow an admitted breach of the technical regulations.

“Competitors are reminded that they have the right to appeal certain decisions of the Stewards, in accordance with Article 15 of the FIA International Sporting Code and Chapter 5 of the FIA Judicial and Disciplinary Rules, within the applicable time limits.

“Decisions of the Stewards are taken independently of the FIA and are based solely

on the relevant regulations, guidelines and evidence presented.”

Hadjar will now line up on the back of the grid, though Red Bull may wish to start him from pitlane if it wants to break parc ferme and make significant set-up changes to his car.

The Frenchman’s team-mate Max Verstappen is due to start Sunday’s grand prix from second on the grid, after narrowly missing out on pole to Mercedes’ Andrea Kimi Antonelli.
