Arrow McLaren SP has revealed its 2020 colours ahead of McLaren’s full-time return to the IndyCar Series.

After two recent outings at the Indianapolis 500 with Fernando Alonso, coming close to victory in 2017 before failing to qualify in 2019, McLaren began to weigh up a full-time effort in the US-based series.

The Chevrolet-powered team has signed Patricio O’Ward and rookie Oliver Askew to form its 2020 driver line-up, with a potential third car in the pipeline for the Indy 500 in May, with the duo helping unveil its team colours in an digital presentation.

McLaren has teamed up with Arrow Schmidt Peterson Motorsports, seven-time IndyCar winners, to form the new-look team.

The car carries over its familiar papaya and blue paint scheme from its F1 team.

“I’m emotional. This is the official start of an journey that goes back several months now. I’m really looking forward to the journey ahead,” McLaren sporting director Gil de Ferran said.

“Working with these guys is a real honour and a pleasure for all of us.”

The 2020 IndyCar Series, the first to incorporate the Aeroscreen cockpit safety device, begins with the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg on March 15.

McLaren is currently preparing for its second launch of the week when it reveals its 2020 F1 car and team colours in a presentation at its Woking base on February 13.
