The GASGAS Aspar rider hurt his shoulder in a heavy fall on Sunday at Phillip Island - an accident that officially ended his 2023 title chances.

But with the shoulder pain subsiding and medical tests showing no obvious injury, the Englishman is confident of resuming his defence of third in the standings from Aron Canet, now 18 points behind.

“On Sunday and Monday my shoulder hurt a lot, but all the medical tests I have done don’t show any kind of injury and the pain is going away, so on Thursday I will be at the circuit for the medical exam that will tell if I am fit or not to ride,” said Dixon.

Dixon finished fourth in last year’s wet Buriram race, a fraction from Canet and a place on the podium.

Pedro Acosta and Tony Arbolino are now the only riders that can mathematically win the 2023 Moto2 crown, with Acosta (currently 56 points clear) having his first title chance this weekend.
