Full Thailand MotoGP warm-up results

Marc Marquez leads the Thailand MotoGP warm-up session in preparation for his first chance to secure the 2019 riders’ world title, while main rival Andrea Dovizioso suffers a late mechanical issue.

The Repsol Honda rider needs to outscore Dovizioso by just two points today to clinch his sixth premier class world crown and made the ideal start in the 20-minute warm-up session by going fastest with a 1m 30.921s.

Pole-sitter Fabio Quartararo claimed second place behind Marquez as he hunts his maiden MotoGP win with fellow front row starter Maverick Vinales in third place for the factory Yamaha squad.

That saw him ahead of Monster Yamaha team-mate Valentino Rossi with a strong session for all Yamaha riders capped by Franco Morbidelli in fourth place on the Petronas Yamaha.

Dovizioso faded to fifth place by completing just seven laps in the session after the Ducati rider was seen with smoke puffing from the front wheel of his GP19 which forced him to pit.

Joan Mir produced an impressive warm-up in seventh place for Suzuki and of Aprilia’s Aleix Espargaro with Alex Rins (Suzuki) and Jack Miller (Pramac Ducati) rounding out the top 10.

That saw Takaaki Nakagami miss out in 11th place for LCR Honda but he kept in front of lead KTM of Miguel Oliveira on the Tech3.

Danilo Petrucci had a low-key warm-up in 13th place for the factory Ducati squad in front of Red Bull KTM’s Pol Espargaro who continues to battle back from wrist surgery completed two weeks ago.

Francesco Bagnaia claimed 15th place for Pramac Ducati to lead fellow Italian rider Andrea Iannone on the Aprilia ahead of Avintia Ducati’s Tito Rabat and Red Bull KTM’s Mika Kallio.

It was a frustrating session for Cal Crutchlow down in 19th place on the LCR Honda only ahead of Avintia Ducati’s Karel Abraham, Tech3 KTM’s Hafizh Syahrin and Repsol Honda’s Jorge Lorenzo who continues to struggle for Repsol Honda by ending warm-up in last place and two seconds off the pace.
