Malaysia and Indonesia will host the official 2022 MotoGP pre-season tests.

After being forced to cancel this year's tests and both the 2020 and 2021 Malaysian Grands Prix due to the covid pandemic, Sepang is again planning its traditional Shakedown outing (for test riders, rookies and concession teams) followed by the opening Official test in late January/early February.

But instead of the usual Qatar test, MotoGP will then move to neighbouring Indonesia for its debut at the new Mandalika circuit from February 11-13.

The test will be used to prepare for the circuit's first grand prix, pencilled in for the early stages of the 2022 season.

Dorna has also confirmed that the provisional date for the season-opening Qatar Grand Prix will be March 4-6, as announced by the circuit a few days ago.

Meanwhile, the Moto2 and Moto3 classes will have just one official 2022 pre-season test, to be held at Jerez from February 22-24.

2022 MotoGP Pre-season test schedule:

  • Sepang Shakedown Test: 31st January – 2nd February
  • Sepang Test: 5th – 6th February
  • Mandalika Test: 11th – 13th February
